FAMILY ENCOUNTERS OF THE BEAUTIES OF SALTA SALTA A HUMAHUACA I
Salta visited by more than one occasion, each of these trips woke up in my new amazement over the beauty and history. This time the trip was the fun of visiting my sister Ana Maria, who two months ago he settled in that province, see the city a little more in depth that when one does it as a tourist.
A BIT OF HISTORY:
think that in ancient times was wichis land in what was known as the Chaco and Salta in colonial times the first to go into that area was Diego de Almagro (year 1535) .
At the time of Philip II, King of Spain, there were hearings, Masters and riots, etc., The city was refounded by Diego de Pacheco (1567), renamed "Our Lady of Esteco Talavera," but that short-lived.
Hernando de Lerma, by order of Viceroy Francisco de Toledo established the first town "San Felipe de Lerma in the Salta Valley. " History tells us that it was a person hated by his people and his death decided to call it "San Felipe el Real" or city of Salta. Data, 1582, its founding charter.
But certainly in its history spent a lot of water down the river from the creation of the Viceroyalty of River Plate until its independence civil wars included. Manuel Belgrano's not forget this gesture of cooperation with the independence of northern Argentina.
A distinctive mark stage in this story was from the appointment of Gervasio Posadas as Supreme Director in 1814, created the province of Salta to divide the province of Salta del Tucumán, led by General Martin Miguel de Guemes. Who will not remember the name of this great leader who was Guemes, but then came the twentieth century and as I am not a historian, I leave to those who do what they are and know in depth the history of Salta in this blog about genealogy, you may be Some employees who were protagonists of Salta's history.,
In my visits to the city of Salta, if there is anything that strikes me and makes me shudder is the entrance to the Cathedral Basilica of Salta. I was particularly interested in how they got these two images: the Miracle of Our Lady of the Crucified Christ and the Mother Church of the city of Salta, I remember it was three until the final construction Basilica to which I am referring to. The story goes that on 19 July 1592, at the Port of Callao (Peru) are floating two drawers, which are carried in procession to Lima and then by the will of Bishop Fray Francisco de Victorica carried by the old Inca Trail Salta leaving Christ and continuing the pilgrimage to the city of Cordoba, with another image of the Virgen del Rosario.
Reading about this story I just found out that the crucified Christ was placed on the altar of the Souls and as the story was forgotten for a whole century, but there was a major disaster in Salta in 1692, exactly on September 13 was an earthquake, a large tremor at 10 am shaking the city of Salta and Esteco, the latter sank. Church then worked in what was called the Second Parish Church (completed in 1648). As for the image of the Virgin, tradition says is the "Pure and Clean Conception", which was already in Salta, home of prominent families who bore the image of the Virgin, to celebrate the feast of Nativity on September 8. Providence made this image to stay for a few days. It was in 1692 with the earthquake in Salta that the image of the Virgin, indifferent to some, she was found at the feet of Christ in supplication and prayer, asking by people suffering with this kind Tremulant. In 1844 there was another earthquake that lasted several days .-
Faith And indeed, as he says: Leo Tolstoy, Russian writer (1828-1910)
"No one lives without faith. The knowledge is the meaning of human life. Faith is the life force. If a man lives is because he believes in something. "And as he put it: Félecité de Lamennais (1782-1854), French religious writer," Faith begins where the Pride
Another impressive monument: The Minor Basilica and Convent of San Francisco. Its construction began in the sixteenth century, in the eighteenth century, Fray Vicente Muñoz built a tempo, which is that persists today. In 1761 suffered a major fire that the Franciscans were moving temporarily to the tempo of expatriate Jesuits, located across from the Plaza Mayor. The rehabilitation work is complete and the mid-eighteenth century.
Inside the remains of Don Francisco de Gurruchaga, creator of the Navy, Pachi Gorriti, gaucho troops colonel and mother of Mrs. General Martin Miguel de Guemes, María Magdalena Goyer.
On July 14, 1941, San Francisco Church and Convent were declared National Historic Landmarks and August 4, 1992 was declared a Minor Basilica by the Vatican.
